Covid_19 Updates: Fear is the Greatest Ally of Tyranny – Postel

I was bucked by the supportive letter from Bryan Thomas of Abbotskerswell 2 weeks ago. Two citizens took issue with him in last week’s MDA but avoided a tilt at me!

Note that a SAGE (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) minute spoke of ‘instilling fear’. You might know that Dominic Cummings attended some of its meetings but he is no scientist! My near namesake, Dr David Halpern PhD FacSS, was there. He runs a large team of graduates under the name of the Behavioural Insights Team, or more ordinarily the ‘Nudge Unit’. It was in No 10 but growth caused its translocation down the road. There is a team of the same name in our ‘ally’, the US of A.

Dr Halpern is a psychologist with a distinguished academic history. Wiki quotes - “11 March 2020 he gave an interview to the BBC on the importance of shielding vulnerable people during the C19 ‘pandemic’ until herd immunity was achieved.” He was right then but Government negligence followed. As Professor Knut Wittkowski said several times before he was quickly censored, all that ‘lockdown’ etc would cause, is extension of the epidemic. Most people know that their behaviour is being recorded – eg. what you put in your trolley at the ‘super’market, your image on CCTV cameras – more in Britain than in any other nation we are told. The Nudge Unit’s skill is in tweeking our behaviour via our perceptions. What we fear, like an invisible virus, is basic in our reactions. I would bet the nudgers suggested that puerile red and yellow cross hatching round the lecterns for those stilted ‘press conferences’ in No 10.

The ‘money tree’ and the coming autumn

Have written here twice before about this ‘pandemic’ - a respiratory illness due to an unusual virus. A virus that is less infective than the usual Strain A or B winter ‘flu’, but potentially rather more vicious in the frail elderly, those with damaged lungs from smoking mostly, and with other medical conditions that lower immunity. Obesity certainly adds to risk in several ways.

One central message was that there was no risk to families if they were driven up to this most beautiful moor in exceptional weather.

Instead, Government propa-ganda has so cowed a usually sceptical populace that everyone obeyed. So no child heard the arrival of the cuckoo here April 22, some 4,000 miles as the crow flies from the Congo Basin. Nor was the exultant song of the skylark heard above the golden gorse.
 
Instead, there has been no voice of a child above our wood beside the Bovey to Widecombe road until this last weekend. The public has been scared out of its remaining wits by so called scientific advisers.

A particular adviser, with a record of faulty prognostication going back to ‘foot and mouth’, has been disgraced. For the record, the modeling ‘Professor’ Ferguson of Imperial College had predicted in March that there would be about 500,000 deaths in this United Kingdom.

This was the trigger for the ‘lockdown’ ie virtual house arrest.

Corona War Game & Population Control?

Thank you for forwarding the essay by Godfree Roberts Ed.D.  Education and Politics, University of Massachusetts, Amherst 1973 in the New York Herald Tribune.  This could be regarded as seminal.  I am forwarding this to about 40 friends on my main e-mail list who are all sceptical about the emphasis given by the 'weirdos and misfits', and philanderers in No 10, on the alleged lethality and virulence of Covid-19.  The latter is contradicted by an announcement the other day via the BBC, which has been at the forefront of the propagandere nero (PN), that 6% of the UK population and 20% of those in ?Greater London have had this one of many variants of the coronavirus family - first identified in the 60s. This family is said to be found in 15% of those with the common cold - coryza to give its pompous name.  Given the crowding on public transport, in theatres and cinemas, supermarkets etc in the Wen of Cobbett, one can assume its 'infectivity'/virulence is lower than 'seasonal' influenza of the various Strain A and B types which mutate continuously.  The latter is the reason why the much 'hyped' 'flu vaccination in the UK often fails to protect those submitting to it.  **

Note the chief officer, his gut, and his hands in his pockets.  The same mentalities that enjoyed shooting the native people in their own land - on a Sunday.  And do not forget, a close ally of the US Empire and the Old and and cunning country. .

I have not from you since. Might I advise you as to your responsibility given that you are speaking to at least 10 million of my fellow citizens. Most are ill informed by the ‘media’ though most will have some idea as to how a bankrupted Britain will so badly affect their future lives, especially their children’s.

Lock down: Logic: Science : Humanity: 'Social Disintegration'

 

Dear Chief Constable Sawyer and Commissioner Hernandez,

These two letters are now posted on my web site - easily linked by people 'googling'  <david halpin surgeon>  my web site comes up second.  I have had automatic responses from Middlemoor and I am confident a senior officer has read them.

I have just walked a mile on Dartmoor with Polly and Trixie, the re-homed and unspayed! JR.  4 cyclists, 5 cars, a light lorry.  No 'hairs' ie. people on top of Haytor.  No helicopters for the third day - not even the air ambulance.  (Grounded?  Roster of 13 for  each flight.)  Yesterday - going to my 28 acres of woodland in Combe to do essential work - 5 ambulances lined up at NA Ambulance station.  No sirens.  One police car seen.

Many have clapped OUR NHS.  But the public can be fickle.  A third are badly over weight and ignore, largely, the burden put on the NHS, with diabetes first.  A minority torment the A&E departments at the w/e and at religious festivals.  A majority has not listened to those few of us informing them that the NHS is at the end of this process -

destabilise>demoralise>dismantle      They could note the contracts being given to the likes of Dyson in this 'crisis'.

It is possible that the post WW2 consensus to construct truly public services might come alive.  And that, with every citizen believing she and he is being considered properly, the advanced 'social disintegration' will be reversed.  We might see TV stations shutting down for some hours as happened years ago, and 'social media' damned as anti-social. ie. Speaking with fellow citizens becomes the norm again.

Corona virus: Distancing: Rational Responses

There the epidemic is said to be waning. Its infectivity appears to be low given the very low incidence in countries like ours in spite of a great deal of potential human droplet transmission.”

What right have I to comment on this ‘pandemic’. I started training in my calling of medicine at St Mary’s in 1958. It was the home of Fleming’s penicillin. We had the best of teachers. In the pre-clinical two years this included bacteriology, virology, immunology under Professor Porter, and pathology. The latter is the study of things that ‘go wrong’ and is, with anatomy and physiology (the normal working), the tripod on which the fascinating and vital science of medicine is based. I have been learning and teaching ever since, and this will be right up to my 80thbirthday 14-04-40, and longer I hope!

Sue and I live at Haytor, here on the edge of the most beautiful and unique Dartmoor, a National Park. We moved here from Combe-in-Teignhead in 2000 so I could think and write in peace. We had lived there in a picturesque thatched house and garden for 25 years so I could be close to Torbay hospital where I served as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. I have loved gardens and gardens since I was a small lad. I am a plantsman. Our garden here has never been more beautiful and lifts the heart in these last wonderful weeks of sun and warmth. Such a wet and dreary winter has almost been forgotten. You can see that I love the beauty of the natural world; with nature by our hand, Sue and I have created 28 acres of broadleaved woodland in Combe.

But what of our fellow beings – cooped up in tight houses with handkerchief gardens. Some thousands live in new ones built in South Devon according to central government diktat and obeyed slavishly by our local representatives on the august Teignbridge Diostrict Council. Some have lost their jobs and fear greatly for the future of their families. They have been ordered, nay ‘instructed’, by Mr Hancock and others to stay in there homes. This was re-inforced by the PM nominated deputy Prime Minister Mr Dominic Raab yesterday – 7-04-20. The Foreign Secretary said the Government's top priority remains to "stop the spread and make sure we can get past the peak" - suggesting there is no imminent end to the lockdown being considered. He said that people should continue ‘staying at home’ this Easter weekend.
