I recall a similar instance - among thousands of sniper 'shots' - using rifles that have British made components. In 2004 at Al Wafa hospital with my brother doctor Khamis Elessi speaking to me in the office of this very good rehabilitation hospital. It treated the severely wounded from the 'Judaeo-Christian' genocide of the native people in the 'Land of Milk and Honey'. The walls were cracked from shelling and we could here the thuds of shells exploding nearby.
A young paraplegic man was being attended by a male nurse in the night. The light was on (sufficient oil then for the power plant!). Khamis showed me the .22 hole in the plastic window on the second floor. This killed the male nurse bending over his patient, the blood from his head spilling over the patient below him.
Today - I gathered strength to watch ZBC's 'Breakfast' at 7.30. There was a live report from Auschwitz with all detail, by a usual male host on the programme and a long segment from the sole survivor of one family - a 99yr old Mrs Salt. She was there with her son and grandson. No mention was made of the current holocaust in Gaza, nor of the dozens since a war to end wars - WW2. It has been reported by The Electronic Intifada and by Swiss Action For Human Rights that our colleague and Palestinian American activist Ali Abunimah, Executive Director of the Electronic Intifada, has been arrested on the streets of Zurich Saturday afternoon 25 January 2025 prior to a lecture he was due to give that day.
No allegations and no reasons were given for his arrest.
We hope that the American Embassy will take action and call for his immediate release.
It is reported that he will be detained for several days in a Zurick Police Station prior to his deportation from the country.
We, at 1948 Lest We Forget, condemn Ali’s arrest in violation of his human rights and in a supposedly civilised European country.
