Re: Alistair Burt MP/ Dr Bashar Assad/ bayonet up backside
5-02-14
Dear Ms Garnett,

It will not do Ms Garnett.  My own 'MP' refused to pass a letter from me to the FCO on a matter of international and national law.  I can assume that he will be as inert now as he was 18 months ago.

I have read the sparse minutes (surprising in itself) of the Standards Committee and can assume that this responsibility Mr Cox is not too onerous.  He might take the view that the reputation of the House is so low that he might wish to exert himself in this.  Someone has to stand up so that our country is not pulled further down.  It is interesting that 'rules' are always invoked in the seats of power but so many are broken in the same places.  I note, in this respect, the 'deselection' of Mr Yeo.  I was, incidentally, responsible for bringing Mr Simmonds MP for Boston and Skegness to book for not declaring a large financial interest in 'health' during the debate on the disastrous Health and Social Care Bill.  A good example of the probity of current politicians of all colours was the promise before the election that there would be 'no top down reorganisation' of OUR NHS.

I wait for a positive response from your office, or from Mr Cox directly.  Meanwhile, I will publish this additional correspondence on my own web site which is quite widely read.

It is always unwise to defend the indefensible.

yours sincerely

Dear Mr Halpin
Thank you for your further email, but unfortunately my previous comments remain.  You are very welcome to raise this matter with your own MP who can contact Geoffrey or any of their colleagues as deemed appropriate.
I apologise that I cannot assist you further.  For your ease of reference, I attach the role of the Standards Committee for your review: http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/standards/role/

Dear Ms Garnett,

The system as it exists allows for little or no accountability of MPs whose behaviour falls short - a euphemism in this case.  I am not so much interested in speed but rather in the morality and lawfulness of our nation, and especially of those in public positions of trust.  You know I wrote to Mr Cox because he is a member of the Standards Committee.  His duty in this is obvious.  Please bring the linked correspondence on my web site to his attention.

yours sincerely

Dear Mr Halpin

Thank you very much for your email to Geoffrey Cox MP, which I am responding to for the sake of speed.

Unfortunately, strict parliamentary protocol prevents one Member of Parliament encroaching on the duty of another to represent his or her constituents.  As such, I would encourage you to approach your own MP, who is of course permitted to liaise with Geoffrey or any other MP as they feel appropriate.

I am sorry not to have been of more immediate assistance.
With kind regards
Stephanie

Subject: Alistair Burt/ Dr Bashar Assad/ bayonet up backside

Dear Mr Cox,

Because this is a public matter concerning the behaviour of an MP I am writing to you directly and not through my constituency MP, though he has been alerted to the correspondence.  I have been greatly disturbed by words voiced publicly by Alistair Burt MP.  I thought it proper that you, being a member of the Standards Committee should know of my actions.  I see the country of my birth being pulled down in all directions.  People of prominence should be setting the best example and not the worst.

I first complained to the Committee for Standards in Public Life.  I was referred to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards. Within an hour or two I was shunted to the Committee on Standards on the advice of Mr Jon Prawer of the 'PCS'.  I have had the most brief response from the secretary to this office, Ms Eve Samson.  She does not say whether she speaks for the committee, or indeed for the chairman Sir Kevin Barron PC.  I have asked her these questions.

Because this is a public matter of great importance, I have had the correspondence posted on my web site

My background, including my work as an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon is noted here.  My bona fides in part -

I am looking for evidence that all Members of the House reflect the morality and principles of a majority of citizens.

For truth, reason and justice

yours sincerely
