Just now, we published a new report in partnership with Doctors Against Genocide. “Starving a Generation: Israel’s Famine Campaign Targeting Palestinian Children in Gaza” asserts Israeli authorities have deliberately weaponized starvation as a method of genocide, resulting in the preventable deaths and suffering of Palestinian children in Gaza that will carry negative impacts for generations to come.
This report includes 33 cases of child starvation documented by DCIP's field researchers in Gaza between October 7, 2023 and May 21, 2025. These cases represent a fraction of the true toll, as every single child in Gaza is now facing starvation due to Israel's ongoing siege and genocide.

"Starving a Generation" concludes that famine has been present in Gaza since early 2024, when the first Palestinian children died of starvation, and that this famine campaign has been a key factor in Israel's genocide since the first days following October 7.
The medical, developmental, and psychological impacts from starvation on a child are devastating and will last for decades, as the Doctors Against Genocide medical team explains in one section of the report. Children who experience severe malnutrition grow up stunted, with weak immune systems, and are susceptible to chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
This report and its findings are urgent: Just this morning, two-year-old Hasan Barbakh, whose case is included in the report, died of starvation in Khan Younis.
