The fascist -"The sub-human who delights in crushing the life out of humans' as in Gaza. DSH
A Change.org petition was received yesterday from a friend of Palestine, and of Palestine Action. It was written and started by John Mulligan on August 6th. It has gathered 331 signatures so far. The facts are more than shocking though many know we live in an illusory democracy. That quote from Orwell is apt - “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.” - George Orwell in his novel 1984.
William Plastow, a Manchester-based writer and one of the 'Filton 18' protestors, has been held in prison for over 12 months without trial for taking part in a peaceful protest at Elbit Systems in August 2024. The government want him to remain on remand for 21 months before his trial in April of 2026, despite his deteriorating health.
William is not a criminal — he is a citizen, a protestor, and a human being. His protest was non-violent and morally justified. He was part of a group challenging the UK’s arms trade and military links to Israel's assault on Gaza. For this, he has been imprisoned in harsh conditions that violate both natural justice and basic human rights.
Since his arrest, William has been:
- Denied bail, even after his family raised £50,000 in support
- Held in isolation, with severely limited access to contact with the outside world
- Prevented from receiving letters, cutting him off from vital support networks
- Denied proper mental health care, despite clear deterioration in his wellbeing
These are not technical failures, they are forms of punishment, inflicted without conviction.
Meanwhile, the UK government continues to operate near-nightly RAF ‘Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions’ flights over Gaza. These missions gather intelligence that is shared with the Israeli military and used to carry out strikes that have killed civilians, including children, aid workers, and journalists.
This is the reality William was protesting and for telling the truth, he is being silenced.
We believe William is being held as a political prisoner. His case is part of a broader pattern: the use of pre-trial detention, counter-terrorism laws, and extreme prison conditions to criminalise dissent and suppress non-violent protest.
We call on:
- The Rt Hon Shabana Mahmood MP, Secretary of State for Justice
- Governor Amy Frost, HMP Wormwood prison
- Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester
- My local MP and all elected representatives to take immediate action and:
1. Review and release William Plastow immediately, or set a prompt and transparent trial date
2. Secure William bail without further delay
3. End his isolation and restore full access to legal counsel, family, and medical care
4. Protect the rights of protestors facing state overreach and unjust application of terrorism laws
This is about more than one man, but it starts with one.
William Plastow is a Manchester citizen, a writer, and a conscience-driven protestor. He should not be punished for standing up for human life. We Demand Change.
Free William Plastow. Free the Filton 18. End political imprisonment in the UK.
'Gross overreach'
Ms Plastow said her son applied for bail, promising the judge that he would stay with his mother and wear an electronic tag.
"We had discussed the most onerous terms, it basically amounted to house arrest," Ms Plastow said.
She said she offered to pay £50,000, from a recent inheritance, but he was denied bail.
"My son has never been violent. It is a gross overreach," Ms Plastow added.
"The idea that at the moment it looks like he will be locked up for 21 months is outrageous."

Home Secretary the Rt.Hon. Yvette Cooper will say that he was involved in an action that was not 'peaceful' and that indeed it was a 'terrorist' act. The 'Terrorism Act'' of 2002 is wide in its sweep. It ignores the terrorism of global reach as in the 'wars of aggression' on Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya for instance - with the murder and maiming of several million humans. Add the millions made homeless who flee like the four million from Iraq. And see how desperate fragments come to the UK to be stigmatised by politicians and the gutter press.
The only relevant basis for charge is this 'serious damage to property'. William Plaistow and the other courageous and conscientious persons were attempting to interrupt the manufacture of weapons being used in this holocaust grafted on to a 77yr long genocide.
The fist is now mailed more widely. Jonathan Cook who lives in Bristol - a journalist reporting in particular on Palestine, was 'pulled over' 16-08-25 as a driver by Thames Valley Police
This social media post by him is stark - https://substack.com/@jonathancook/note/c-146669509 Quote - He answered that it was routine to make checks on what he called “cross-border activity”.
And Craig Murray - ex-HM Ambassador to Uzbekistan reports 17-07-25 the unlawful and vicious treatment of three young women who took direct action against a Leonardo weapons factory in Edinburgh. https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2025/07/the-big-chill/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
These good young people of conscience who care deeply are trying with mind and body to stop this mass barbarism.
Examples here, from Defence for Children International - Palestine -
Quote - Mohammad: “I have … to obtain food for my eight siblings and myself”
“While I was in the waiting area by Wadi Gaza Bridge, we were monitored by an Israeli quadcopter. We waited there for half an hour for the aid delivery gate to open. As soon as the gate opened, we rushed towards the gate when five Israeli tanks appeared and opened fire directly at us, resulting in numerous martyrs and injuries," 15-year-old Mohammad Al-Hwaiti, Deir al-Balah city, told DCIP.
